Free personalized support for people with disabilities, older adults, and the agencies that serve them

You have the right to
thrive in your community

And get access to resources you need
to achieve your personal goals

Even when there are resources available to you, it can be hard to navigate the systems to get access to them.

Where do I start? What numbers do I call? How do I get past the roadblocks that feel put in my way?

At Independent Living Resources, we listen to your goals. Then we empower your own chosen path to independence by helping provide the services, education, and advocacy support to actionably achieve them.

Working for and with you

At ILRSCC, we are not an assisted living or skilled nursing facility. We do not manage caseloads, or follow up with other agencies on your behalf. Rather, we take an active role in helping you succeed in your independent living goals: by empowering your freedom of choice and supporting you through to achievement.

Housing support

Get help understanding fair housing laws, and get personalized assistance for housing-related concerns

Information & referrals

We ask questions, listen to your story, and direct you to the people or agencies that can help address your needs

Peer counseling

Individual, family, and group counseling for people with disabilities, led by people with disabilities

Transition & diversion

We support you during times of life transition, and become a voice of advocacy when you are at risk of entering institutional living

Independent living skills

Public transportation, money management, grocery shopping, social communication: practical skill building to fit your personal goals

Assistive technology

Attendant referral

We help connect you with personal attendants who can support your daily needs, and offer guidance as you begin working with an attendant for the first time

Advocacy

ILRSCC continuously advocates to improve the lives of people with disabilities and older adults: working to address public transportation, fair housing, and widespread policy change

“If you need help navigating disability benefits and most issues regarding your disabilities, the folks working at Independent Living Resources of Solano & Contra Costa Counties are extremely competent and helpful.”

– Holliday C.

Consumer-driven from the
beginning

What does “consumer-driven” mean?

We do not assume to know what is best for you, tell you what you need, or force you to receive services in certain ways.

Instead, we listen. We ask: “what is it you want?” Then our staff (built by over 51% of people with disabilities who live independently) tailor directions of support, referrals, and programming to your priorities.

All in an effort to empower you to make your own choices in how you live your own life with independence.

Two ways to donate

Support ILRSCC

A $5 donation can help give someone a ride to dialysis. A $100 donation can help give someone a permanent shower chair. Any donation helps.

Donate your used wheelchair

When you donate used assistive technology (including wheelchairs), you help connect people in your community with tools that further independence.
